Winter Reflections

Posted on: Mar 10, 2014

Here in New York, the winter of 2013–14 has been hard and cold. Now that spring is almost in sight, I am looking forward to displaying the fruits of the season – along with some old favorites – at the West End Gallery’s “In the Spotlight” exhibition (March 14 – April 25 in Corning, NY). Participants will learn to create “sepia” oil portraits using just Raw Umber paint. Sepia paintings can serve as finished works of art or be used as underpaintings – when painting from life, I start almost all of my color portraits this way…

Posted on: Dec 05, 2010

I recently returned to painting for the first time in quite awhile, having spent the Summer and most of the Fall hard at work on my mother’s house. It felt great to be back at the easel, and I especially enjoyed getting my money’s worth out of a couple of friendly roses that I found at Wegman’s…
